Community News - Alyce Anderson 90th Birthday

A Message from Pastor Kevin Dibbey

A Message from Pastor Kevin Dibbey

"Victory Over Darkness" | Acts 13:4-12

This Sunday, our sermon is entitled Victory Over Darkness. It is a common experience for missionaries moving into unreached people groups to discover rather quickly that one of the great challenges to the advance of the gospel is spiritual warfare. My wife, MariAnne, works for a mission agency that provides resources for the under-resourced churches around the world. One of the churches that her ministry serves meets under a tree in a remote village in Malawi. That community was under the strong influence of a village shaman or witchdoctor for many years. Now, it is under the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What we all need to realize is that when the sharing Christ, we are always facing a spiritual battle. This isn’t just for remote and unreached peoples. As the apostle Paul reminds the church at Ephesus, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” We are not merely dealing with intellectual questions or relational injuries with the church or emotional struggles. We are in a battle for the freedom of souls from the dominion of Satan.

Praise God as we will see this Sunday in Acts 13:4-12, the enemy is no match for King Jesus. Come as we study God’s Word together and worship the One who has defeated our Enemy. See you this Sunday, Lord willing.

Serving the Eaton Family

Serving the Eaton Family

Gina Eaton had surgery on 9/17, and part of her recovery is that she will need to lie flat for the first 10 days. We are hoping to fill as many of those days as possible, and then we would like to continue some support to lighten her load. Gina has made countless meals over the years to bless others.

Please prepare enough for 4 people, but some leftovers welcome to use for lunch the next day. They do not have an extra fridge/freezer!

*Please indicate what you are making in the comments, to avoid duplicates!

Thank you for blessing them!

Refugee Ministry Update

Refugee Ministry Update

Waterbrooke’s refugee ministry team has befriended the Rasooli family from Afghanistan, and for the past 10 months, we’ve helped them navigate their transition to life in the U.S.  We’ve assisted them with technology, paperwork, job seeking and purchase of a car, as well as just having fun with them together as friends. It’s been a blessing to everyone as we’ve shared God’s love with the family.

Now we’d like to assemble another team of 10 people so we can help a second family.  The time commitment is visiting the family once a month with another Waterbrooke team member and a monthly meeting of our team.

If you would  questions or would like to join us in “welcoming the sojourner” please contact Steve Kowalke at 952-456-1444 or sckowalke@yahoo.com.
