This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Grand Opening of our new ministry hub. Our sermon text will be Ephesians 3:14-21. The message is entitled: God’s Love for Waterbrooke Church. 

One of the questions that someone might ask us is, “Why build this ministry hub?” The answer is rooted in one of the great truths of the New Testament. God’s purpose in the sending of His Son into the world was for His kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

For the apostle Paul, one of the earth-shaking discoveries that he had to make as a former self-righteous religious zealot was that God was making a people for Himself out of all the broken families and divided nations of this shattered world. As I write this, I am in Northern Ireland, where people still live in separated communities between Protestants and Catholics, and still have walls up between Irish Republicans and British Loyalists.

The church exists to glorify God by going on the adventure of discovering in community how broad and long and high and deep is the love of God in Christ. Waterbrooke exists to explore gospel-empowered community in the power of Christ and to the praise of His glory. This building project creates new spaces for that community to be fostered and explored in prayer, conversation, discipleship, and compassion. God loves His church and we have the privilege of both discovering and sharing that love in Christ.

Come this Sunday as we celebrate God’s love and faithfulness and as we commit ourselves to grow as a gospel- centered community together. See you Sunday. Hope you will bring a friend. 

As we celebrate and dedicate our expanded Ministry Hub, there are many people who have put hours of effort to make it all happen and we we want to let them know how much we appreciate their work:

Landcape Crew: in addition to those who showed up for planting day, the following were key in this area in terms of landscape design, plant selection, purchase, eqipment rental, tree planting, rock work and drainage: Yvette Hatch, Karen Swenson, Ralph Dvorak, Chad Pearson, Geoff Evans, Andy Turner and Steve Kowalke.

Decor: Finish decisions, space planning and design,  purchasing and assembly:  Karen Swenson and Yvette Hatch did all the up front work, then coordinated volunteer crews to assemble and place furniture.

Tech:  This group determined all audio/visual requirements, purchased all supplies and got everything wired and working for worship services.  Andy Keppel, Mitchel Plaisted, Johnny Hatch, Jeff Merboth, and Hugo de Carvalhlo were also responsible for set up each time we changed worship venues.

Communication:  keeping everyone in the loop during the entire process:  Allyson Rehnborg, Lisa Washington, and Karen Kowalke.

Hospitality, Storage and Sanctuary set up: determining best and most efficient use of new space, transitioning treat service to the hub:  Ken and Dianna Duncan, and Molly Dvorak.

Building Team:  oversight, builder and architect liaison, finances, planning, project leadership:  Steve Kowalke, Casey Campbell, Bruce Eaton, Ralph Dvorak, Kevin Dibbley, and Karen Kowalke

Students are invited to a Summer Grill-Out and Swim on Thursday, August 14th from 5-9pm.

We'll meet at the Campbell's house for burgers and hot dogs, followed by a short walk to Deephaven Beach for swimming and beach fun!

Burgers, hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share.

Students, be sure to pack your beach gear, towel and sunscreen!

Join us for a fun art class benefiting our Italian missionary, Karise Pagano*

• Friday, August 15
• Waterbrooke Church
• 5:30 p.m. Come early to experience an Italian Aperitivo (light appetizers), purchase art pieces made by the women of Alba House, and chat with Karise before the class!
• 6:30-8:30 p.m. Art class
• Ages 13 and up
• $40 per person

Andrea Merboth will walk you through the joy of creating an art piece. She will provide all the necessary supplies.

I am Karise Pagano, an Italian-American missionary serving in Italy since 2013 and collaborating with local ministries since 2007. Sent by Waterbrooke through Entrusted Word Ministries, my mission is to make disciples by living among the Italian people, building relationships, sharing the Gospel, and mentoring sisters in Christ. Italy’s beauty and history contrast with its deep spiritual need, as many are trapped in superstition and false religious teachings. Effective outreach requires long-term relational investment to exemplify the life-transforming power of Christ.

My ministry includes supporting Alba Safe House and Recovery Program, which provides housing, recovery, and training for women and children escaping human trafficking. I also serve The Masterpiece Project Worship Music Ministry, which creates Gospel-centered worship music in Italian. Additionally, I assist local ministries with consulting, administration, event planning, and translation, all while striving to share Christ and disciple others in their faith.
