Overview:
Waterbrooke Christian Church, a vibrant and growing congregation in Victoria, Minnesota, seeks a talented and passionate Part-Time Worship Leader to guide our congregation in worship through music. This role requires a born-again Christian who believes the gospel and agrees with the Waterbrooke Christian Church Statement of Faith. The Worship Leader will work closely with and report to the Senior Pastor to create a theologically sound and engaging, authentic worship experience that glorifies God and edifies the congregation.
Key Responsibilities:
o Worship Service Planning: Collaborate with Senior Pastor to develop the order of service and select music that is theologically sound, complements the sermon and worship themes, and fosters a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment.
o Worship Team Leadership: Lead and direct the worship team during Sunday services. Coordinate and lead practice sessions to prepare for the service. Foster a spirit of unity and spiritual growth among worship team members.
o Music Selection: Choose gospel-centered, theologically sound music that enhances the worship experience and aligns with the church’s mission and values. Ensure balance and variety of contemporary songs, hymns, different musical styles (upbeat vs contemplative) and appropriate introduction of songs that are new to the congregation.
o Wednesday evening coordination: Coordinate Wednesday night worship by scheduling a leader and team (encouraging youth participation) or by filling in as leader on occasion/when necessary.
o Special Events: Plan and lead worship for special services, such as Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, and other significant church events.
o Scheduling: Schedule worship team members, ensuring sufficient team members to conduct worship and with rotation in accordance with team member preference.
o Recruiting/Training: Recruit and train new members of the worship team.
o Coordination: Work closely with church staff and tech team members to ensure clear communication regarding order of Sunday services, accuracy of music lyric slides and other details related to the service. Manage and update music used by worship team. Utilize worship technology such as ProPresenter and Planning Center.
o Financial: Manage necessary purchases to stay within budget and to wisely steward resources. Provide input to annual budget planning process.
Qualifications:
o Spiritual:
- Must be a born-again Christian with a clear testimony of faith and a deep and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Full agreement with Waterbrooke Christian Church’s Statement of Faith.
- Passion for leading others in worship and glorifying God through music.
o Musical:
- Strong vocal ability and proficiency in leading worship (instrumental skills preferred)
- Understanding of gospel music and ability to select theologically sound songs
- Experience leading a worship team or musical group preferred.
o Leadership:
- Ability to inspire and direct a team of musicians and vocalists.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate with the Senior Pastor and church staff
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Work Schedule:
- Part-time, flexible
- Approximately 8-15 hours per week (negotiable)
- Sunday mornings from 7:30 – 12:30 (2 services typically)
- Meet with Senior Pastor each week to discuss upcoming service and longer-term planning
