New Sermon Series Oct 4th - "Called to Share in His Glory" 2 Peter

Starting in October, Waterbrooke will begin a new sermon series in the
letter of 2 Peter entitled “Called to Share in His Glory.” In his first letter, the
apostle Peter ends by declaring this great promise: “And after you have suffered a
little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ,
will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To Him be the
dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 5:10-11). In 2 Peter, he begins with
these words: “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and
excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises,
so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature…”.
We have been called by God to share in the glory of Christ. There is no
exception to that rule. Everything that we experience in this life as God’s children,
will be used to shape us and to grow us into His likeness. We often fear that we
can’t change old habits or that prevailing sins will have the last word in our lives.
That’s not true. Jesus died not to abandon us in our struggles and in our sins but
to shepherd us into glory. His goal isn’t mediocrity. It’s is Christ’s glory! So, be
hopeful!

Let’s pray that as we gather to worship Christ Sunday after Sunday, over
the next several months, that our hope, our joy, our love, and our faith will
flourish as we pursue the glory for which Christ shed His precious blood. Can I
encourage you to do something? Try to read through 2 Peter several times and
ask God to grow your faith and transform not only your life but all of our lives
together as we live to serve our Savior in anticipation of the glory that is
guaranteed to come. Pray that God will not only convince you that you can
change but to fill you with the assurance that this is your destiny in Jesus! Looking
