When our kids were growing up, summer always seemed to be a season of growth. Between the last day of school and the first day back, they would shoot up in ways you could almost see happening. Growth is a good thing—physically, of course—but even more so spiritually.

This summer at Waterbrooke, our prayer is that we would grow together—not drift, not stall, but truly grow in wisdom. In the middle of busy schedules and constant distractions, we want to be a people who are flourishing in Christ.

That’s why we’ll spend our Sundays in the Wisdom Psalms. Scripture calls us to this pursuit again and again: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God… and it will be given” (James 1:5). Jesus reminds us that the wise build their lives on His words. And Paul tells us that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Wisdom isn’t optional. It’s essential—life-shaping, life-directing, even life-or-death. As Proverbs says plainly, “Get wisdom.”

So this summer, that’s exactly what we intend to do—together. Our hope is that by God’s grace, we will grow in our love for Christ and in our likeness to Him, so that by fall we are not spiritually drained, but deeply rooted and flourishing.

Will you commit to that kind of growth? Will you join us for a Summer of Wisdom? We’re looking forward to opening God’s Word with you and seeking the Lord together.
