"The Glory Returns"
This message is called “The Glory Returns.” Luke records for us some information about the childhood of Jesus that we wouldn’t have otherwise. It’s not in any of the other gospels, but for Luke it is very important and very exciting. When we see Jesus coming to the temple in his youth, a couple of elderly saints, Simeon and Anna, see the coming of God to deliver His people. The Holy Spirit reveals to them that this is the glory of God returning to the temple in order to do something far greater than He had ever done before. A new day had come. A new thing had begun. Here’s the question that we want to pray over ourselves and over Waterbrooke: “God, would you come and do that new thing in our lives for which Jesus entered the world?” Are you looking back longing for former glory? Are you looking forward with fear? What would it look like to look ahead with eager expectancy, asking and anticipating God to do a new and great work in and through our lives, greater than has ever been done before? Let’s gather and experience the unchanging Word of God in the power of the Spirit doing a changing work of God in all our lives!
